Hi, we have pretty much just one day in Colorado Springs as part of a road trip from Denver to Santa Fe and back up via Moab. 're arriving from the UK the night before and will be jetlagged. This will be mid April. As I'm usually awake stupidly early day 1, I'm thinking we can use this to our advantage by hitting Garden of the Gods at sunrise, and then maybe into Manitou Springs for some brunch. My original plan was to do Pike's Peak in the early afternoon, and my other half is itching to drive it, he loves challenging driving even if it basically means all he sees is road. Plus, the cog train running to almost $80 for the two of seems really expensive to me. However, we're not used to altitude and won't have had any time in the area to acclimatise. Taking that into account, plus jetlag, I'm wondering if it's a recipe for altitude sickness to go at all, and if that's the case possibly driving is better than the train because we have the option to bail if we start feeling rough, whereas with the train you're stuck on it!
