No fee to get in and plenty of trails to choose from. We obtained a map and trail suggestion from the visitor center. Staff was friendly and helpful. We picked the blue trail, it wasn't marked well in the beginning. Once we found it the markings were better but we ended up on the pink trail near the end. So the trail markings can be a tad confusing but we didn't mind. We got a nice 4 mile run/walk in. We only saw one other person along the trail which was surprising. We did however see a beautiful two point young buck, you can tell he was use to people as he looked at us and ambled away. We enjoyed our exercise and plan to take advantage of the park a few more times while we're here. Contained Hiking/Walking Feb 2017 • Solo Living across from Claude Moore Park, I finally decided to take advantage of its closeness and the beautiful weather. I opted to do the white trail. It was very smooth and flat to walk out but I lost the trail somewhere around the ballfields and maintenance area. I picked up the blue trail which I knew intersected the white trail a few times.

Disgusting, not safe, sand pit Jun 2017 • Family I have to say we went there today for the first time and I don't plan on returning. At first we went to the Rec center, not knowing there were two separate entrances. The sand pit is not advertised anywhere, so it's hard to find. It's not safe for kids under 5, because it's filled with sticks, large logs, tree limbs, and bones. They also had staff there preparing a hunt for a camp, so that was odd. Not to mention my son got filthy and ate the sand. There should be set hours for kids, with age restriction, and I also saw a man laying on the grass, he looked like a bum. There were lots of young employees walking around that should have told him to leave. Such a huge turn off.
